Lab: Stakeholder map and business objective alignment
This lab uses the Meridian Health Group brief. Work from the request as written, not from what you assume a patient portal should do.
Part 1 — Restate the need (20 min)
Quote the request verbatim
Copy Meridian's exact words from the brief. Do not tidy them.
If your gap sentence contains the word “portal,” you have restated the solution. Go back to step two.
Part 2 — Map the stakeholders (30 min)
- 01List everyone named or implied in the brief, including people referred to only in the third person.
- 02Add at least two people the brief does not mention but the process requires.
- 03Place each on the influence and impact axes.
- 04For the high-impact, low-influence group, write one sentence on what you would lose by not consulting them.
Part 3 — Align objectives (10 min)
For each of your three highest-influence stakeholders, write what success looks like from their seat. Where two of them conflict, say so plainly. Conflicting objectives found in Week 1 are a finding; found in Week 8 they are a crisis.
- Gap sentence names a measure and contains no solution
- Cost of inaction is present and labelled fact or assumption
- Three assumptions, each with a named owner role
- Stakeholder map includes at least two people absent from the brief
- At least one objective conflict identified and stated
Knowledge check
Two stakeholders want opposite things and both have high influence. What is the right Week 1 move?
